Unveiling the Artistic Marvels: A Review of Cutting-Edge AI Image Generators

Welcome to the ever-so-dreamy, ever-intriguing, and beauty-filled world of AI-generated images. In this article, I’ll be diving into the top AI image generators that are revolutionizing the way we create and experience visual content. I will try to create an image using some of the leading AI image generators and compare them based on the quality of the image and accuracy based on the input prompt. From stunning landscapes to abstract artwork, these cutting-edge tools are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. So, let’s get started and unlock the realm of artificial creativity!

Here’s what I am trying to create: “A squirrel as a superhero atop the CN Tower.”

First on the list is Adobe Firefly.

Adobe Firefly is an AI-powered image generator that uses natural language processing (NLP) to create images based on text descriptions. According to a review on SourceForge, Adobe Firefly is user-friendly and accessible to users of all levels. The tool was designed to be user-friendly, with helpful prompts and guidance throughout the process.

Here’s an array of sample images that Firefly created using my prompt. It generated 4 variations for me to select from and allows me to further select the style variation of these AI-generated images. Pretty neat!

That’s impressive but there’s hardly any CN tower to see. The squirrel does look like a superhero though. The first one is hilarious. Hope you notice why. In the comments below, please suggest a name for our fiery squirrel.

Now, let’s try the same prompt on Dall E 2 (Open AI) to generate a similar photo.

DALL·E 2 is an AI image generator that can understand text descriptions much better than anything that came before it. Its superior natural language understanding results in a tighter command over styles, subjects, angles, backgrounds, locations, and concepts. DALL·E 2 has delivered a new benchmark for AI image generator quality. Compared to the original iteration, DALL-E 2 promises more realism and accuracy, plus four times greater resolution.

Here’s the result :

Quite impressive in my opinion! The picture quality is a bit low compared to FireFly, but it has correctly captured the requested details better than FireFly.

I personally still like FireFly better. Moving on, next on our list is Deep AI.

DeepAI is an AI-based art generator that generates original paintings, drawings, and watercolour paintings, using an image as a source. It creates art for inspiration or as a means of relaxation. One statement that stood out for me on their website was, “This can be used to generate AI art or for general silliness. Don’t expect the quality to be photorealistic, however. You would need a big AI to do that and have you priced those lately?”.

While AI does generate what’s requested, there are no limitations to a person’s imagination. So, the possibilities are truly endless. There are no copyright issues either. So, can we truly achieve artistic genius through these tools? That’s for another article. For now, here’s what Deep AI has rendered.

The quality of the single image that it generated is pretty basic. I expected better results. But, on the bright side, there are still many options available to experiment with.

Time to test out the final generator the NightCafe.

NightCafe Creator is an AI Art Generator app, with multiple methods of AI art generation. Using neural style transfer, you can turn your photo into a masterpiece. Per NightCafe.com, NightCafe Creator is an AI app that lets you create, and share art using new methods of AI image processing. In the app, you can use a few different styles and methods of creating, like style transfer to transform photos, or text-to-image that creates an artwork from nothing but a text prompt.

In a nutshell, NightCafe Creator works by using a machine-learning algorithm that turns a text prompt into an image. Then, the same framework optimizes the created image until it satisfies certain parameters to end up with a recognizable visual representation of the text prompt.

I tried the same prompt on NightCafe and here’s the result:

While the quality of the images is amazing, it is nowhere close to looking anything like a superhero. Very creative rendering though.

Personally, I like Firefly the best so far. Let me know what you think.

Are there others that you’d want me to try?
